An 'eggs'cellent hill roll - 34 adults, one hard-boiled egg each.

"Choose a hard-boiled egg, mark it up with a personal design, and see how many rolls it takes you to get it down the hill and into the carton at the bottom. Fewest rolls wins a prize."

Those were the instructions. A fabricated game, costing almost nothing, and an opportunity for fully grown, responsible, serious adults to do something with no consequence and no manufactured outcome.

Two observations.

The children played immediately; the adults hesitated first. The hesitation looked learned. What was it protecting them from, and what was it costing them?

And then it went, fast. Laughing within a minute. Bonding, camaraderie, and a genuinely comic few minutes as the results were read out.

For about ten minutes, a tumbling egg was the only thing that mattered to thirty-four people. I would guess every one of them put down whatever thoughts they'd been carrying around before it started.
